JEF Europe – Young European Federalists is recruiting a Membership and Communication officer for the European Secretariat of the organisation in Brussels.

Main tasks include:

  • Liaising with JEF sections and members and supporting them in their activities, in capacity-building and forwarding opportunities, together with the Executive Board;

  • Running and supporting various micro-granting processes of JEF Europe to its sections across Europe;

  • Coordinating the organisation of JEF Europe’s statutory events together with the Secretary-General (Congresses, Federal Committees);

  • Contribution to JEF Europe’s campaigns, activities and programmes, e.g. Democracy under Pressure, Federalist Academy

  • Working on projects that are linked with working together with our members together with Secretary-General and Project Coordinator

  • Supporting the Task Force Capacity-Building in providing resources and toolkits to the sections, as well as other Task Forces of JEF Europe where relevant;

  • Working with JEF Membership Survey, and supporting the Secretary General and the Executive Board in its analysis;

  • Keeping internal membership documents and membership database updated, as well as public overviews of the JEF network (e.g. map of all local sections, website).

  • Daily work on communication activities of JEF Europe (social media, campaigning, internal communication) together with the Executive Board and Task Force Communications

  • Preparation of content for and management of JEF Europe website

  • Preparation of content for press releases,and articles for political stances of JEF Europe

  • Preparation of newsletters and communication with national/local JEF Sections all around Europe

  • Coordination of projects/campaigns with other staff members and Executive Board members of JEF Europe

Essential qualifications and qualities include:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree is an asset but can be compensated with relevant working experience adequate for the position;

  • Excellent command of English (C1);

  • Being passionate about membership-based youth organisations and their development;

  • Experience with capacity-building activities and non-formal education as a methodology

  • Interest in developing skills in contributing to and implementing the communication strategy of an international youth political communication

  • Very good knowledge of social media networks (Facebook, X, Instagram).

  • Good knowledge of all Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), collaborative work tools (Skype, Google docs, Trello, etc.) and newsletter tools (Brevo or Mailchimp).

  • You work in a precise and organized way

  • You are capable of taking initiative and finding solutions to challenges

  • You can work in a team as well as on your own and learn quickly

  • You feel comfortable in an international and multicultural environment

  • Very good organisational and time management skills

Highly valued:

  • Knowledge of French/Dutch

  • Good knowledge of working with WordPress, Photoshop, Canva and other editing software

  • Knowledge of working with photo and video editing software

  • Previous working experience in a CSO on Communication

  • Previous experience with membership databases handling.

  • Experience of volunteering or working in youth NGOs

  • Knowledge and understanding of JEF Europe’s vision, mission and projects

Contract conditions and remuneration:

  • 12-month fixed-term contract under Belgian law, with the possibility of extension;

  • Full-time, 38 hours/week;

  • Monthly gross salary: 2100€ with additional benefits (€50 for public transportation, €100€ of frais forfaitaires, private health insurance, food vouchers);

  • Work during weekends and/or evenings several times a year, with time off in lieu as compensation. The position requires travel in Europe several times during the year, and all travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed by JEF Europe.
