FiBL Europe serves as an ambassador for the FiBL group, representing its expertise to policymakers and stakeholders in Brussels. Its work is focused on two areas: enhancing FiBL's contribution to the EU science-policy dialogue and supporting FiBL researchers in securing and coordinating projects.

For the office of FiBL Europe in Brussels, we are looking for a Scientific project coordinator (100%)

Job purpose

Under the supervision of the Managing Director, you will coordinate the Horizon Europe project InnOFoodLabs. This project aims to strengthen organic value chains through a living lab approach. It covers small-scale food processing, sustainable packaging, farmer-processor connections, and innovative supply and distribution models. The project places a strong focus on scaling innovations and delivering tangible impact within real-world value chains. Your role will be to ensure scientific excellence of the project, facilitate proper and effective collaboration among project partners, and deliver high-quality reports towards the funding agency. Depending on the needs, you will provide support to the implementation or acquisition of other projects.

Your role and tasks

Coordination of InnOFoodLabs (90%)

  • Oversee achievement of scientific ambition of the project

  • Ensure effective implementation of all project tasks

  • In collaboration with project partners, ensure tangible impact for actors in organic value chains and policy makers through effective communication, dissemination and exploitation

  • Ensure effective and smooth internal communication in the project

  • Organise project meetings and outreach events for the project

  • Ensure delivery of deliverables, milestones and technical reports towards the EU’s Research Executive Agency (REA). Provide any required documentation

  • Manage the project’s budget and monitor budget spending by partners

  • Collect financial reports of partners and ensure correct submission towards REA.

  • Provide administrative guidance towards the partners

  • Occasionally travel to project sites and events outside Belgium

Support to other (Horizon Europe) projects (10%)

  • Similar tasks as above

  • Provide support to other projects as required, e.g. project acquisition, organisation of project meetings, project reporting (technical and financial), data management, communication & dissemination

Your experience - essential

  • Master’s degree

  • Solid experience (4-5 years) in administrative and financial management of projects funded under Horizon 2020 or Horizon Europe

  • Experience with organic value chains. Knowledge of the diversity of organic value chains across Europe, their functioning, business development needs and technical challenges

Your skills

  • Able to give guidance and be demanding towards project partners

  • Able to navigate through contractual agreements and administrative requirements

  • Able to detect opportunities to achieve impact and act on it

  • Creative and and able to give shape to project tasks

  • Strong organisation skills, respect of deadlines and high level of initiative

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, self-motivation, adaptability and a desire to work as part of a team;

  • Excellent writing and verbal skills;

  • Able to work in an intercultural environment

  • Curious & creative

  • Excellent English (CEFR Proficient User C1)

  • An undetermined full-time contract (38 hours/week)
