Milieu Consulting is looking for a Legal Researcher

Do you want to be part of this dynamic and passionate multi-cultural team? Are you a motivated lawyer with solid knowledge of EU legislation? We are looking for a full-time Legal Researcher with a background in EU law and a particular focus on one of Milieu’s sectors of work (especially, but not necessarily limited to, environment, employment, public health, digital or justice) for an immediate position to support our busy team. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with clients to shape public policymaking, and join an outstanding and committed multi-disciplinary team of experts.

Key tasks will include the following:

  • Research and development of analytical reports on European law covering a range of issues
  • Research and reporting on implementation of European law in the Member State in which your expertise lies
  • Assistance with the development and drafting of proposals
  • Support the management of projects to budget while ensuring that deadline and quality objectives are met, and supporting the coordination of multidisciplinary teams
  • Support the quality control of experts’ inputs

The key qualifications required for the position are:

  • At least a master’s degree in law from an EU university
  • Good knowledge of EU legislation and/or strong exposure to the EU institutions
  • Proven expertise in at least one EU country’s legislation (experience in any EU Member State is welcome, but candidates with experience in Belgian, Czech, German, Romanian, Slovakian, or Slovenian legislation will be prioritised)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience. Candidates with experience of working in consultancy for the EU institutions will be prioritised.
  • An independent, self-starter personality with a commitment to quality
  • Well-organised, practical-minded and able to prioritise a busy and varied workload
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word
  • Clear, concise and accurate writing skills in English, including the ability to review and edit the work of others
  • Knowledge of other EU languages is an asset.
