Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian aid organization that provides assistance in more than 60 countries to populations in distress, to victims of natural or manmade disasters and to victims of armed conflicts, without discrimination and irrespective of origin, religion, creed or political affiliation.
MSF Operational Centre Brussels (OCB) is currently advancing the development of its 2026-2031 Strategic Ambitions. This initiative is pivotal in defining the vision, priorities, and overarching goals for OCB within MSF’s global humanitarian framework for the coming years.
The role of OCB Strategic Ambitions Content Coordinator and Editor is designed to take a leadership position in the strategic content development process with primary responsibility for distilling and formulating strategic-level insights from senior leadership dialogues. The Content Coordinator and Editor will produce comprehensive and forward-looking strategic outputs that reflect the collective inputs of key stakeholders and align with MSF’s overarching goals.
The post holder will report to the General Director and work in close collaboration with Deputy General Directors and other colleagues in the CODIR and senior leadership. The post holder will also liaise with working groups leads and other key stakeholders involved in the strategic ambitions process to ensure coherence, consistency, and clarity in the strategic outputs.
Lead the drafting of OCB’s 2026-2031 Strategic Ambitions, synthesizing inputs from senior leadership and key stakeholders into clear and impactful strategic documents
Provide strategic leadership in the content development process, ensuring that all outputs are coherent and well-structured and aligned with OCB’s long-term vision and priorities
Actively shape strategic discussions by translating complex information and consultations into structured, forward-looking documents that will guide decision-making at the highest level
Coordinate the process of gathering, organizing, and synthesizing inputs from working groups, task forces, and senior leadership teams, ensuring timely and coherent delivery of key strategic outputs
Serve as the central point for managing the development of strategic documents, facilitating collaboration across departments, and ensuring that all content is aligned with OCB’s broader strategic objectives
Work closely with senior leadership to ensure that all strategic content is well-documented, coherent, and aligned with OCB’s overall vision and mission
Act as a strategic liaison between senior leadership, working group leads, and external stakeholders to ensure that all perspectives are integrated into the final strategic outputs
Engage with internal and external actors to gather insights and feedback, ensuring that the final strategic documents reflect the full breadth of input from key contributors and stakeholders
Co-facilitate high-level strategic discussions, helping to guide the content development process in alignment with OCB’s broader operational and humanitarian goals
Lead the consolidation and synthesis of complex information, transforming key insights and discussions into actionable strategic documents
Capture and document all key decisions and strategic insights, ensuring that leadership has access to well-organized, comprehensive documents for future reference and decision-making
Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality strategic documents, ready for endorsement by the General Director and OCB leadership
Prepare regular updates for leadership on the progress of the content development process, ensuring that timelines are met and that any risks or challenges are addressed
Oversee the finalization of all strategic outputs, ensuring that they are ready for internal dissemination
Advanced degree in Political Science, International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Development Studies, or related fields
Extensive experience (5+ years) in a senior content development, strategic writing, or management role within a complex international or humanitarian organization
Proven experience in drafting, consolidating, and editing high-level strategic documents, with a focus on actionable and impactful content
MSF experience with comprehensive understanding of MSF’s structure, political dynamics, and operational frameworks
Exceptional written communication skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable strategies
Strategic coordination skills, with experience managing high-level content development processes in a multistakeholder environment
Proven ability to capture, consolidate and synthesize complex information into a clear, structured format and actionable documents
High attention to detail and the ability to handle large volumes of information
Ability to understand the MSF political architecture, dynamics, and drivers and to engage effectively across the organization including with senior leadership
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Understanding of especially French but also in Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic is an asset
Expected starting date: As soon as possible (ideally early December)
Location: Brussels (Belgium), other locations may be considered
Contract type: fixed-term contract – full-time
Contract duration: 6 months
Salary according to MSF-OCB HQ grid
