The Data and Digital Analyst, within the Fundraising Data & Analysis team, is responsible for enabling a data-driven and data-informed culture to make evidence-based decisions as well as support on our Digital Product Infrastructure.

The post holder will work across the Digital Systems, ensuring effective administration and training is provided to the platform users, including developing robust onboarding and offboarding processes; along with monitoring our synchronizations between systems and conducting reconciliation as needed.

The post holder will generate, improve and analyze fundraising data, both quantitative and qualitative, from internal and external sources to produce strategic information that supports data-driven and informed decisions, tactics, and strategies that consistently maximize HRW fundraising results.

The post holder will also provide, with supervision from the Data Analyst Lead, ad-hoc analysis, data selections, reporting and develop the reporting and documentation required to support the end users; with support from the Training and Support team. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Analytics and Insight, on the FSDA team and may be based in any of the following HRW Offices: Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Sao Paulo, London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Amman, Nairobi, Tunis, Toronto or Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

System Administration, Processes and Training

  • Onboarding and Offboarding users to our key digital technology tools, including Engaging Networks, Stripe, PayPal, Worldpay (formerly Vantiv) iQ.

  • Permission Management of users across Marketing Cloud, in addition to routine review of product usage to enable licenses to be recycled.

  • Processing Invoices for our digital tools are required, liaising with IT, Finance and the MD of Fundraising Systems and Data Analytics on changes to levels of expenditure.

  • Working with the Training & Support team in creating Training Programs for the Digital Tools, ensuring guidance is routinely updated and sessions conducted with Staff across development; this would include a hybrid of written documentation and videos.

  • Assessing Feasibility on external courses that would be applicable for FSDA staff or wider Development colleagues, in addition to putting together suggested trailheads for users of the Marketing Cloud system.

  • Contribute to improvement projects that shape the department’s effectiveness, efficiency and data-driven decision making.

  • Develop documentation and assess business requirements for the end-users of reporting and Business intelligence tools, working with the Training & Support team as needed.

  • Work with Data Quality & Integrations Analyst to identify and resolve large-scale data quality issues in reporting data.

  • Work closely with the Revenue Operations team to ensure revenue data quality is accurate and supports long-term reporting for forecasting and revenue projections.

Digital Tool Support:

  • Creating exports across the Engaging Networks and Marketing Cloud systems, additionally ensuring that pages are mapped correctly from Engaging Networks to Salesforce.

  • Build / Review page templates, provide them to 3rd parties for relevant actions, lead form testing, ensuring that key deadlines are adhered to for fundraising activities such as the Voices for Justice Dinners.

  • Working with the Digital Products Owner on Digital improvement projects across the department.

Reconciliation and Hygiene:

  • Monitoring our daily donation syncs between the Engaging Networks and Salesforce Instances, reporting on value discrepancies and correcting data as needed; performing manual cleanups as needed.

  • Adhering to the bi-monthly reconciliation deadlines we have within Development which would involve (But not limited to) the following reconciliations:

    • Reconcile USD Salesforce transactions against Worldpay (formerly Vantiv) and the US Citibank account

    • Reconcile USD Salesforce transactions against PayPal accounts and the US Citibank account

    • Reconcile USD Salesforce transactions against Stripe and the US Citibank account

    • Monitor transactions from Engaging Networks Integration and Marketing Cloud Integration to discern where “dirty data” or fake data is originating and clean it up as needed.

Data, Analysis and Reporting

  • Creating reports to develop and present actionable insights, business intelligence from analytical output, supporting a data driven culture in development the Salesforce, Engaging Networks and Marketing Cloud tools.

  • Contribute to the data and insight strategy including activity reporting, financial forecasting, specialist report development and ad hoc analysis projects and data selections, to increase understanding of activity, supporter and financial trends and making recommendations to leadership to deliver improvements.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to create data selections including recommendations on which are the best targets for direct marketing campaigns, create segments according to strategically determined criteria, data modelling, and develop testing plans to yield statistically significant results.

  • Work with the Data Analyst Lead to build tools and reports that underpin Business as Usual activity; triaging Tier 1 queries and reporting discrepancies with the current reporting.

  • Provide support as needed to the Fundraising teams on any areas of Data, Selections, Reporting and Analysis; working with the Data Analyst Lead to understand business prioritization requirements.

  • Ensuring that the Marketing coding / attribution processes are clearly documented and any exceptions tracked with the Revenue Operations teams.

Qualifications:

Education:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.

Experience:

Minimum of two years of relevant experience working in fundraising data analysis or business data analysis is required. Knowledge and experience in nonprofit fundraising and marketing, preferably in a global INGO context with country-specific fundraising operations, is highly desirable.

Related Skills and Knowledge:

  • Fluency in fundraising practices, terminology, technologies, channels, and compliance, and the ability to translate easily between fundraising end users and technology providers.

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and present complex data.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and quality.

  • Fluency in SQL or similar database query language desired.

  • Proficiency in using Engaging Networks, or another e-CRM, is essential.

  • Proficiency in using E-Mail Applications such as Mailchimp is essential, with Marketing Cloud knowledge a plus.

  • Proficiency in using fundraising software platforms, CRM systems (Salesforce Desirable), and building data analytics tools and reports using BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is also desirable.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build trust with diverse stakeholders from around the globe, including staff for whom English is not their first language.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and teams.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel.

Salary and Benefits:

HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers competitive compensation and employer-paid benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance. Candidates must possess valid work authorization for the location in which they'd like to be based. The salary range for this position if based in the US is 62,060 - 66,387. Salary ranges outside of the US vary based on location.
