The Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung European Union office in Brussels is welcoming applications for the open position of Accountant, to be filled as of 1 March 2025. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 15 January 2025, 23:59 CET.
The Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung is a German political foundation affiliated with the German Green Party (Alliance 90/The Greens). Its primary task is political education and advocacy in Germany and abroad. Our main tenets are ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, non-violence and justice. In our work, we place particular emphasis on gender democracy, equal rights for minorities and the political and social participation of migrants.
Our namesake, the writer and Nobel Prize laureate Heinrich Böll, personifies the fundamental principles we stand for: defence of freedom and human dignity, civic courage, open debate and the acknowledgement of art and culture as independent spheres of thought and action. As a think tank for green visions and ideas, we are part of an international network with over 30 offices worldwide and with partner projects in more than 60 countries.
Responsibility for sound and proper accounting practices and timely posting of all payment transactions
Preparation of financial reports in compliance with legal requirements and the regulations of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung
Calculation of travel expenses in compliance with legal requirements
Scanning and saving all invoices and other relevant documents
Preparation of documents for the annual financial statements
Maintenance of the asset register
Assisting the Head of Finance
Degree in business management (BA in Accounting) or comparable qualification in accounting
Several years’ experience (at least 3 years) as an accountant in the field of international cooperation
Very good book keeping skills
Very good knowledge of Excel and Accounting program (incl. Navision)
Oral and written fluency in English (German language skills of advantage)
Experience in the management of publicly funded projects
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and take responsibility within an international team
Service-oriented mindset

The job location is Brussels. This is a temporary employment for two years, an extension is possible. The position is full-time (37 hours/week).
