GMF’s Leadership Programs seek an energetic and detail-oriented trainee to work on fellowships for a highly diverse and vibrant network of emerging leaders from the United States and Europe. The traineeship provides an ideal opportunity to acquire substantive professional and networking experience for those interested in international program administration, intercultural communications, leadership and fellowship development. This experience also provides the space to learn more about career opportunities across sectors—business, politics, and civil society—in international affairs. Qualified candidates possess strong communication, Microsoft Office and organizational skills. GMF offers a stimulating, supportive work environment, with the chance to work both independently and as part of a transatlantic team.
Assist in the implementation of activities, particularly Transatlantic Inclusion Leaders Network and EU-US Young Leaders Seminar
Provide administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, writing team minutes, maintaining departmental calendar
Assist in database maintenance, such as updating contacts, cleaning marketing lists, coordinating with IT
Assist with the organization, development and execution of virtual and in-person events
Assist in fellowship programming, such as developing program booklets, agenda development, fellowship logistics
Support Leadership Programs Staff as required
Other duties as assigned.
Excellent English writing, editing, and speaking skills.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
Background/interest in communications, administration, or fellowship programming preferred.
Strong interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
Interest in communicating with high level contacts within the network.
Interest in the programs and priorities of the German Marshall Fund.
Preferred starting date: January 2025
Preferred length: 5 months with a commitment of at least 30 hours per week (5 business days) during the standard hours (M-F 10-5)
The traineeship will take place in a hybrid format. GMF staff are currently asked to be in the office three days per week.
