European Rail Infrastructure Managers is looking for a Policy & Legal Advisor

The European Rail Infrastructure Managers (EIM) is seeking for a ‘Policy & Legal Advisor’ to join its policy department and support the advocacy work. The Policy & Legal Advisor will work in close collaboration with the Executive Director.

About us

EIM is the trade association representing the rail infrastructure managers in Europe. Our mission is to provide a single voice to represent our members vis-à-vis to the relevant European institutions and sector stakeholders. EIM also assists members to develop their businesses through the sharing of experiences and contributing to the technical and safety activities of the Agency (ERA).

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse and report on the relevant legal and political initiatives;

  • Analyse legal affairs in the railway sector and their possible impact on rail infrastructure managers;

  • Draft policy briefs to inform the members;

  • Build, maintain and develop a network with EU institutions, sectoral associations and other stakeholders to leverage EIM’s position;

  • Coordinate and develop responses to public consultations, position papers etc;

  • Organise and chair internal meetings;

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of EIM’s advocacy activities;

  • Represent EIM at external meetings with stakeholders and EU;

  • Answer policy-related questions from the members in a timely manner.

Essential Requirements

  • University degree in law, EU studies, political science, or other relevant field;

  • At least 2 years of experience in the transport sector (trade association, EU institutions or consultancy). Experience in the rail sector will be considered a strong asset;

  • Thorough knowledge of the EU legislative and decision-making procedures;

  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Good command of French or German will be considered an asset;

  • Excellent communication and writing skills;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Well organized, reliable and able to prioritise multiple tasks;

  • Ability to work in an international work environment;

  • Good networking skills.
