Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to support our Legal and Risk Unit. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates with an interest in legal contracting, legal compliance, data protection and risk management to gain practical experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

Legal Contracting & Data Protection

  • Support the creation, review, and revision of various types of contracts and agreements to ensure they meet legal and organizational requirements.

  • Assist in the negotiation process by preparing drafts and amendments to contracts.

  • Conduct impact assessments and maintain accurate records of data processing activities.

Legal Compliance

  • Support compliance reviews and due diligence processes for our partners and service providers.

  • Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, internal policies and funder requirements.

  • Conduct research on applicable legal and regulatory requirements and summarise and present findings in clear, concise reports.

Risk Management

  • Assist in identifying and assessing potential legal and other risks in business processes.

  • Assist in developing and updating risk mitigation strategies and registers.

  • Prepare reports and summaries on risk assessment findings.

Requirements

Experience and competencies

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed university degree or equivalent studies in law or a related field.

  • Strong research and analytical skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, other European languages welcome.

  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.

  • Prior experience or coursework in legal contracting & compliance, risk management, or data protection is a plus.

  • A genuine interest in the mission and values of the ECF.

  • Candidates must be entitled to intern in the country they are applying for.
