Energy Cities is looking for a Communication Assistant - Student Job (part-time)

We are looking for a motivated student to assist our communication team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a challenging environment developing communication outputs and contributing to Energy Cities social media’s activities.

As an assistant, you will be an integral part of our team. Energy Cities team is governed according to holacratic principles. Holacracy is a method of organizational governance based on decentralized management. Holacracy relies on collective intelligence and avoid having the organization under the influence of personal feelings or tempers of top managers.

Starting date: October 2024

Duration: 12h/week during 10 months

Working conditions

  • student job of 12h / week ideally spread in 2 days

  • workplace location: Energy Cities office in Brussels (Belgium).

  • It is expected that the student works from the office (no teleworking).

  • Financial conditions: aligned with Belgian labour legislation for students

Key responsibilities

Contribute to the development of bulletins and newsletters

You will contribute to the drafting of the monthly bulletins for the Energy Cities Hubs on Local Governance and Food Systems and for Energy Cities’ newsletter whenever needed.

Our Hubs are community spaces, dedicated to our members, that help us achieve our target impacts and goals by:

  • activating local leaders to deliver living spaces that are accessible to everyone.

  • empowering local communities to decide on their own future.

  • inspiring a learning community of cities engaged in future-proofing their economies.

Support in keeping Energy Cities website up to date

You will help us upload relevant information (events and articles) to our website (we use WordPress).

Support in the management of our social media channels

You will help creating and publishing content to Energy Cities’ social media (LinkedIn, Facebook and X) according to our internal planning.

Activities will include

  • Create engaging text, image and video content for all social media

  • Manage social media’s publications according to our planning

  • Help preparing newsletters

  • Review and layout of documents and communication material

  • Desktop research on specific topics to find best practices and relevant information

  • Editing websites

  • Attending online meetings

Candidate’s profile and skills

Eligibility

  • Eligible candidates must be enrolled in a university studies. This is a part-time student job.

  • Student can proof enough hours package on 2024 to be eligible to the reduced BE social security charges. This can be checked through https://www.studentatwork.be

  • Studies in Communication, PR or a related field

  • Interest in Energy and Climate topics

Skills

  • You have knowledge and experience with digital marketing communication and social media publications

  • You have a prior experience in digital communication

  • You have the ability to synthesize information and extract key messages

  • You have strong organisational skills

  • You have the ability to work in team

  • You are proactive and can work well under pressure

  • You are familiar with WordPress and the Adobe Creative Suite

  • You are a native English speaker or equivalent

  • You have excellent writing skills in English
