Job description

GIZ International Services is looking for a Key Expert - Technical advisor logistics and finances for the EU-funded project “European Resources for Mediation Support (ERMES) IV” in Brussels.

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen peace mediation practice and capacities and enhance inclusive peace mediation and dialogue processes at the international, regional, national or local levels.

Your tasks

The Technical advisor logistics and finances (Key expert 2) will be in charge of advising on and coordinating the logistical and financial aspects of the assignments. This will include the identification of and advising on appropriate meeting venues, security arrangements, space set-up as well as technical aspects including hybridity of meetings/events or appropriate online tools, interpretation as well as all related financial aspects. She/he will act as the deputy of the Team Leader and ensure the smooth organisation of the project activities during any absences of the Team Leader. The Technical advisor logistics and finances will liaise and report to the Contracting Authority, including via the Team Leader on a regular basis on the activities and will facilitate a fruitful and open dialogue between all the stakeholders involved (EU actors, Member state or partner country authorities, international or regional organisations, civil society, think tanks etc). The Technical advisor logistics and finances will undertake missions, including outside of the EU, to prepare or accompany the implementation of assignments (indicatively 2-3 missions per year).

Your profile

Qualifications and skills

  • University degree or equivalent professional / higher education in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Public Administration, Political Sciences, Law, International Relations or other relevant discipline. In the absence of a university degree, five (5) additional years of professional experience are required.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent oral communication and drafting skills in English and very good oral communication and drafting skills in French (equivalent, respectively, to C1 and B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CERF).
  • Excellent ability to coordinate multi-level tasks, to work under pressure and react at short notice; client-oriented/problem solving attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and intercultural competence.

General professional experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in project management procedures, preferably through management of and participation in EC-funded technical assistance projects.

Specific professional experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in organizing high-profile and/or sensitive events and initiatives (conferences, seminars or workshops).
  • Experience in conflict affected or fragile environments/contexts (such as and including experience in dealing with security aspects related to the organisation of travel and events) would be considered an asset.
