The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) is looking to recruit a Head of Communication to reinforce its Communication and Events team in Brussels, during a Maternity leave for a period of 9 months (December 2024 – September 2025)
Job Title: Head of Communications
Type of contract: CDD under Belgian Law
Salary range: €3,000 – €3,400 monthly gross salary depending on experience (plus meal vouchers, reimbursement of Brussels monthly travel pass and supplementary health insurance – DKV)
Location: Travel within Europe might be required.

Starting date: December 2024
Under the supervision of the CPMR top management (Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General), you will manage the CPMR Communications team, contributing to the internal and external communications and event activities of the CPMR, namely:
Managing the Communications and Events team for delivering effective communication both internally and externally;
Proposing and coordinating communications campaigns and actions, in line with current European developments and the fields of action of the CPMR, in close coordination with the policy and Geographical Commission teams;
Drafting news articles and press releases, in line with CPMR actions and close coordination with the CPMR top management, Presidency and Vice-Presidencies
Managing CPMR Social Media channels on a daily basis;
Preparing the tri-annual newsletter of the CPMR;
Overviewing all the communication aspects around CPMR events and meetings, in coordination with the CPMR Events & Marketing Officer;
Delivering communications-related tasks within several EU projects the CPMR is involved in;
Contributing to the organisation and communication of CPMR statutory meetings.
Higher education qualifications in a relevant field (Communication, Journalism, Public Relations)
A very high level of proficiency in English
Strong written communication skills
2 – 5 years of proven experience in communication related to EU affairs
Knowledge of the functioning of the European institutions
Experience in managing a small team
Experience working in an international environment
Experience with social media and community management
Knowledge and/or experience working with local or regional governments, European institutions or membership associations
Knowledge and/or interest in EU policies of particular relevance to local and regional governments
Experience in working with EU funded projects
Proficiency in at least another European language (particularly French) is a strong asset
You are a team player, able to coordinate efficiently the work of small team, all while having a hands-on attitude
You are a proactive and dynamic colleague; eager to propose new ideas and support the team
You are capable of working in a relatively autonomous and structured way but can quickly adapt to and manage unexpected and complex or politically sensitive situations
You have a good understanding of intercultural contexts and are able to handle different working cultures with diplomacy
You have a positive and flexible attitude to work
You enjoy coordinating with your team members to achieve the best possible results
You pay attention to every detail and have a keen eye for branding and design
